«Make Sense» is a public organization that aims to strengthen society by using media, education, and civic engagement as tools to raise awareness, develop critical thinking, and encourage active participation in public life. We strive to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to influence changes in the community by being well-informed and educated.
Our mission: to support and develop a strong society ready to face the challenges of today.
Our vision: to create an informed, active, and responsible society where every individual has access to quality information, modern education, and the opportunity to actively influence the development of the community and the state.
Today, our Media branch includes two independent websites operating in eastern and western Ukraine: the Sloviansk City Website 6262 and the Chernivtsi City Website 0372. We not only provide our audience with up-to-date news but also implement large-scale projects and actively work in the field of media literacy, debunking Russian narratives and disinformation.
The Sloviansk City Website 6262 was created in 2014, following the liberation of Sloviansk from occupation. We aimed to support the city as it was just beginning to recover from the war and the russian information onslaught.
Since then, we began to grow in the media field and build independent journalism in eastern Ukraine. Over the years, we have managed to implement many ambitious plans and become leaders in our niche. Most importantly, we have gathered around us those who care as deeply about the future of our Sloviansk as we do.

Our Partners
During our work, we have established partnerships not only with media and donor organizations but have also signed memorandums with two universities: Chernivtsi National University and Kharkiv National University of Economics named after Semen Kuznets. Our editorial office has also become a place for internships for future media professionals.
Among the partners who have already supported our activities are Internews, Chemonics International, IREX/Ukraine, Prague Civil Society Centre, National Democratic Institute, and others.
Plans for the Future
In 2024-2026, the public organization «Make Sense» sets ambitious growth goals for its Media branch.
These goals include expanding content, attracting new audiences, developing formats, and improving interaction with our readers and followers. We also plan to enhance collaboration with partners at both national and international levels.
Ukrainian Media Business Academy
UMBA is a new platform for training, primarily aimed at media professionals, in non-media professions. In response to the changes currently taking place in the media industry, and understanding that processes will no longer be the same as they were before, we have launched courses designed to help make your business sustainable, profitable, and, most importantly, financially independent.
The Ukrainian Media Business Academy goes beyond the traditional understanding of media, demonstrating that it is not only a creative field but also a financially stable and sustainable business. The Academy occupies a unique niche in Ukraine's educational space, providing answers to the most pressing challenges of the media industry and filling critical gaps in professional training for non-media skills for media professionals.
We train grant managers, sales managers, communications managers, project managers, and others.
All these professions are currently in demand in the job market, and organizations are constantly searching for skilled professionals, who are in short supply in Ukraine.
Accessibility and Simplicity
Our programs are accessible to everyone who seeks to develop in media. We speak in simple language and make learning understandable and engaging.
Practical Focus
Media professionals need real skills. Hands-on experience and practice are better than beautiful words and dozens of repetitive theoretical lectures.
Adaptability to Change
The Ukrainian media landscape is rapidly evolving, and we understand that today's media professionals face unique
challenges.
Individual Approach
We will assess your level of knowledge on a particular topic, listen to your needs and concerns, and offer individualized
solutions.
Innovations and Dynamism
Our courses meet contemporary challenges. We respond to changes in the media world by offering you the freshest knowledge and innovative approaches.
Networking
Our programs are not just about learning; they are also about building a network of human connections. Here, everyone can find a partner and mentor.

Plans for the Future
To train up to 750 students over 3 years
● Expand learning opportunities:Over the course of three years, launch at least 5 courses for non-media professions in media.● Community support:Through UMBA, create a new community of non-media experts for support and experience sharing.● Offline events:Develop the Academy as a platform for discussing trends and challenges and hosting events on relevant topics.● Engaging international partners:Over the next three years, we plan to engage international donors, media from Europe and around the world, and foreign NGOs for collaboration and new opportunities.● Create a media market as a business:Over the next three years, train a sufficient number of media organizations so that they can diversify their revenue and become business entities independent of donor support.
The hubs were created to provide journalists and media professionals with a suitable place to work and access to professional equipment for producing quality materials. The hubs offer space for communication among journalists and the creation of a community where necessary support can be obtained. However, the role and functions of the hubs in Sloviansk and Chernivtsi differ. In Sloviansk, the hub focuses on war correspondents who cover the events of the war and can quickly reach the front lines. In Chernivtsi, the hub operates as a coworking space where one can conduct work, record podcasts, and produce videos.
Our main goal has been to increase the volume of verified and truthful information in the media space and social networks, combat and refute misinformation, and thoroughly explain to people how to act in emergency situations, including during wartime.
